Walked into a high-end place in sneakers and hoodies. The host smiled too politely. The waiter barely made eye contact. Ordered burgers and sodas while the table next to us had wine pairings and oysters. At the end, we tipped 40%. Suddenly, we were “sir” and “ma’am” on the way out.
