We recently celebrated our son’s first birthday at Prego, the Italian restaurant at The Westin, Gurgaon (Mehrauli Road) — and what unfolded was far beyond just a beautiful event. It became a memory, thanks to two exceptional individuals: Mr. Shreay and Mr. Piyush.From the very first conversation, Shreay was incredibly kind, attentive, and proactive. He genuinely listened to every single detail I envisioned — from menu curation to décor discussions to logistical planning. Not only did he help us negotiate and personalize the experience, but he also made the entire planning process feel effortless. His sincerity, calmness, and warmth instantly put me at ease, and he remained deeply involved till the very end.Mr. Piyush, the restaurant manager, and his on-ground team were nothing short of phenomenal on the day of the celebration. Their service was truly world-class — flawless, seamless, and genuinely heartfelt. Every single staff member was on their toes throughout the event. Not once did I feel the need to ask for anything twice. They anticipated, responded, and executed everything with utmost grace and professionalism.Despite being a 5-star property, what stood out wasn’t just the luxury or the aesthetics — it was the hospitality, the human connection, and the eagerness to deliver magic, even if the request was over-the-top or difficult. Every single demand, no matter how specific or spontaneous, was treated like a priority — and delivered without hesitation.As someone who was initially unsure about booking this venue, I can now confidently say: this was the best decision I could have made. The warmth, the care, the attention to detail — it exceeded every possible expectation. Service or the lack of it , to the point of bad etiquette , took away the little value Prego served through it’s mediocre food! Thoroughly upsetting experience where the least you expect from a five star hotel is its staff being immaculate with their attitude and service.We ordered a pizza porcini , crispy and creamy chicken and coffee gelatos and a hazelnut gelato . The free mocktails were a joke! And better not to serve them than serve small glasses of mojitos ! The condiments for the pizzas were served a good 7 minutes after we had started having the pizza! The portions of the gelatos were at best extra small! Staff was taking forever to serve the pizza (35 mins) and 21 mins to pack the leftover after the second reminder.Seemed serving us was a burden, and even if it was , it should not show!
