The paneer was not good at all. It was made of white rubber like material. Shahi paneer is supposed to be a red curry with medium spices. But it was all white. Just a white paste with no seasoning or spices. It was not edible.

Zaika is the name of TRADITIONAL HAVELI hotel's main restaurant,i first got to know about it through a coupon website (i dont have interest in schemes and gimmicky advertisements, but i still subscribe to coupon websites cos their newsletter helps me find newly opened eateries, and I,as u all now have too much craze for trying new new places.
(Zomato is a bit sloppy when it comes to adding newly opened eateries.90% of the time,i request them to add a place..then they do so (with my help offcourzz)donno if they are sloppy or i am over obsessed)
Anyways..
Zaika has been on top of my wishlist since past 2months,cos its a hotel n i dint wanto ask for a home delivery/take away (unlike what i have been doing during few busy month..unpacking,reheating n gulping..*grrrr* [loop it few thousand times]
So..finally i got a chance to spend whole evening outside for a dinner, away from that phone ringing, hassle filled workload n a mess created by technology (music n art is all about computers, web of cables, softwares n complicated instruments these days you see.we dnt enjoy any hassle free life n hvto work hard,we are not "Mastikhors" anymore. The industry has changed)
My mom was insisting on names like Niros/peshawri/copper chimney..but i wanted to try a place from my wishlist.i risked my evening n went to The Traditional Haveli.

THE MAIN REVIEW
AMBIENCE
Awesome if not brilliant! From the moment i stepped outa my car,i kept getting good impressions abt the ambience.
The location of the hotel is a bit tricky to find so i would suggest you to seek assistance on phone/gps. after finding the place for 15-20 mins i finally reached there.
The hotel looks good from outside and as soon as you walk in,you get to hear the tranquil sound of water running with few coloured lights, the fountain greatly enhances the environment. The hotel is peaceful and is very well maintained.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Hotel was built in the 1940s so its quite a young haveli. It was a personal residence till 1956 n in 1958 it was sold to badiyal thakur,he converted it into a heritage hotel.(i dont know when the WELCOM-HERITAGE group took over this property)
I would give it 4 for the ambience (1 less for not being conveniently located, less old/rustic and no big historical background,no connection to maharajas or the royal family)
FOOD
Apart from the complimentary papads and a welcome drink
We ordered
*Murg Adraki Shorba
*Chinese Special Manchow Soup (Chicken)
*Murg Tikka
*Khade Masaale ka Gosht
*Pindi Chana Masala
*Dal Tadkewaali
*Lemon Rice
*Butter Naan
*Jodhpuri Parathe
And
2scoops of
*Paan flavoured ice cream in the dessert
Papads were ok (tasted like the usual readymade ones we eat daily)
Welcome drink was a combination of orange n litchi canned juice, nothing special! But served the purpose..i was quite thirsty.
MANCHOW soup was nice, but the fried noodles in it were not crisp at all.MURG ADRAKI SHORBA was overall pretty tasty but it had finely chopped semi raw gingers in it (which was beyond my expectation,i thought its chicken n started chewing like n idiot..so that b)(tch ginger came all over my tastebuds..arggrgrg)it had no chicken but just the stock and grated ginger..they should specify all that in the menu..
Anyways..MURG TIKKA was very tasty and juicy, marinated n grilled on charcoal to perfection!i loved it.
KHADE MASAALE KA GOSHT was good,i expected whole spices n drier gravy but it was a fine paste ruled by coriander n red chillies..the balance was good and lamb pieces were well cooked and succulent.overall it sufficed our main course needs
Pindi chana was the sour version of the usual chana masala,i could taste whole spices an anardana in it,i liked the extra tanginess a lot!! This went well with the jodhpuri mirch paratha.
Daal was pretty basic but not bad and butter naans were soft and warm.Jodhpuri Paratha was quite nice..lal mirch n some rajasthani seasoning..good!
LEMON RICE looked really refreshing, but had very less lemony flavour..rice quality was quite nice n as plain rice it complimented the dal.
Paan ice cream was delicious n fluffy, perfect note to end a wholesome meal!
4/5 for the taste
(No everything was outstanding so..4)
SERVICE
Staff were warm and cordial as we started our meal, but i had to shout once and give them a wakeup call for it.noone welcomed us as we entered the restaurant and we had to acquire a random table.after almost 10mins of doing the same,a butler came n ask us to shift as the table was not for 2 and reserved.i showed my sarcastic n honey coated insult expertise n within no time the scene got reversed.STILL,the service was painfully slow..from serving papads to the soup..they took 30-40mins,n when i complained rudely,i was facilitated with complimentary welcome drinks (i could get seriously offended by this move but the butler was really apologetic and was sending many reminders to the kitchen too so..its ok)
They kept us on regular holds between courses to come. a naan/roti would take 5-10mins every time.
3/5 for the service..slow,a bit untrained n sometimes inattentive staff but otherwise well mannered, smiling and helpful
VALUE FOR MONEY
5/5 considering the ambience and food quality, prices are very pocket friendly! The menu is vast and very well balanced too.i wont mind spending here at all.
VERDICT
highly recommended! If you are searching for semi traditional fine dine experience at a well maintained heritage hotel, then don't think twice.budget conscious travellers n local foodies seeking some change should try Zaika for once.it wont disappoint.
I wil take my guests to TH by the welcomgroup(from india n abroad) who love haveli ambience n are not so special;) (if i dnt wana take them to taj,itc or other money hungry luxury hotels, this would be my choice!)
Hence 4/5
P.S when i stepped in,i was too hungry and impatient to try their food,i decided to click the pictures while going back but my iphone died after desserts.some pictures are low res(specially the ambience of the hotel)
The otherfone cam suffered a lot,as the lighting conditions were challenging n it was midnight when i came out..70%lights were off..it was too dark. My advance apologies for the bad quality(tried retouching them to enhance the visibility but..)will replace some pictures in my next visit for sure.
