Udupi Sri Durga Nivas – A Sincere Note of Appreciation I visited Udupi Sri Durga Nivas for lunch on an election day when the menu was understandably limited. Available items included rawa khichdi, plain dosa, coffee, etc. The team was preparing to close, and I was fortunate to be the last customer served. Though coconut and tomato chutney were unavailable by then, what I was served was fresh, satisfying, and thoughtfully prepared. I would like to especially thank Ms. Asha, if I have her name correct, for her warm, courteous, and professional service. Her excellent English and genuine smile made the experience memorable. While other staff were more comfortable in the local language than in Hindi or English, the service overall was prompt and respectful. The limited meal was filling, and as we say in Trinidad, "Better belly bust than good food waste." I would have happily ordered more, but the kitchen had closed for the day. My bill came to Rs 190. I had the opportunity to briefly meet the owner and the lady at the cash counter before leaving. The shutters were being pulled down as I stepped out, with the entrance already roped off. It was a pleasant experience, and I happened to visit at the right time for lunch but on a quiet day due to elections. I look forward to returning soon to enjoy the full menu, especially the vegetarian thali displayed on the signage. My sincere namaste and gratitude to the management, kitchen team, and all staff, including Ms. Asha, for their hospitality.
