My wife and I visited this place for lunch. Was our first time. Being a foodie and a seafood lover, I was surprised how this place skipped my radar for Mangalorean cuisine. Coast to Coast has always been the usual go to place. Anyway, looked like we got there just in time to grab a table for 2. 15 mins later, there was a long queue. Best to be there by 12:30 PM or so for lunch if you don’t want to wait. Coming to the ambience, the decor has an old charm to it although it was open only in 2017. Capacity wise, it’s not great hence the queue. Coming to the food, we ordered Prawns Butter Garlic, Pomfret Tawa Fry for starters. The Prawns was fantastic, perfectly cooked in Butter and Garlic. The Pomfret was also very nice. Better than Coast 2 Coast for sure. The only thing that took us back a little was the portion size for the price. It’s just NOT justified. ₹790/- for a small pomfret which they said was Medium size! We felt robbed to be honest! For main course, we got Neer Dosa, Chicken Ghee Roast and Chicken Biriyani. It was really nice and enjoyable, although my wife thought Coast 2 Coast ghee roast to be better. But then again, the portion size of the ghee roast was ridiculous! At C2C, you can order Small, Medium and Large portion sizes, the portion size here is standard and comparable to a Small at C2C. And more expensive! The biriyani was slightly dry but good flavours overall! The bill came up to ₹2400. They also serve Soju, which is Korean liquor. Strange combo with Mangalorean cuisine to be honest. Overall, the food is excellent, albeit the portion sizes. The portion size has to justify the price. One star less for the portion size. Tucked away amidst the vibrant bustle of Church Street, The Konkan (Est. 2017) is a true culinary gem that shines for its mastery of coastal cuisine. Perched above the iconic KC Das, this unassuming spot offers an authentic escape into the bold and briny world of seafood. The fish thali stood out with its perfectly cooked, fragrant boiled rice—but the undeniable showstopper was the masala fish fry: crisp, succulent, and seasoned to perfection. It’s a dish that borders on the divine—an experience as much as a meal. That said, there’s room for refinement. Greater transparency on seafood pricing would be appreciated—“APS” (As Per Size) leaves diners uncertain and hesitant. Additionally, the chicken in the biryani, though tender, lacked the depth of flavour that the richly spiced rice promised. Service, however, was nothing short of stellar. One member of the staff, clearly a seafood enthusiast, offered engaging insights that elevated the experience far beyond the plate. The Konkan isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a gateway to the coastal soul of India. A must-visit for anyone seeking more than just a meal, but a flavourful journey.
