Chicken Rice Bowl - Rs.150 Sticky Rice Stick - Rs.50 T2 Eateries, Nongthymmai, Shillong Chinese, Tibetan, Mizo, Japanese $ 06.08.24 Today I'm back at Nongthymmai near IIM Shillong. This location has really surprised me with the number of good eating joints & I hope I get to discover more. Anyway thanks to Google Maps else I would never have seen this place as there is not even a signboard out front. I entered inside this little eatery with a few tables inside & a couple outside. It was filled with young folks most probably college students. The menu mainly focused on students & was hung on the wall. I was hungry & wanted something more than a snack so I ordered what seemed to be the most substantial & priciest item on the menu, the Chicken Rice Bowl. After ordering that, I again noticed something interesting that I've not even heard off, the Sticky Rice Stick. The gentleman on the counter was amused by the volley of questions I had on the dish so not to tick him off, I ordered a plate. The Chicken Rice Bowl came first & damn did it look good. Midway the sticky rice sticks also came & they also looked interesting. The rice bowl had a medium portion of plain rice topped with a crunchy chicken katsu cutlet with a dash of chilli sauce & shana mator (ghujni), papaya chutney & cucumber & onion slices. The sticky rice sticks were fried & came with a bowl of sweet condensed milk. The katsu was perfect. The papaya chutney awesome. The Shana motor which I always dread the skin sticking to my throat gave me no such problems. The dish was more than I expected. The rice sticks were slightly sweet & good by themselves.
