I booked a table on Saturday for dinner on Sunday. One Mr. Shivakumar asked me if it was a special occasion. I said, yes, it is our son's wedding anniversary. He volunteered to bring a cake to the table. I then called on Sunday to change our table booking time from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The lady who picked up couldn't find our reservation!!! She promised to "spoke" to Mr. Shivakumar and call back. She never did. I had to call again to confirm that we did have a reservation, and we got it changed to 9:00 pm. ===. We visited the restaurant. They gave us two menus for four of us. WHY? Has the Taj run out of money? We had to ask 3 times before we got one more printed menu, and a tablet based one. The Chicken Ghee Roast tasted like something an apprentice cook would conjure up on a bad day. Just some parboiled chicken mixed with some masalas for a couple of minutes. The Mutton was excellent. No issues there. The service speed was very mediocre - many people rushing around, but the food took a while to come. In spite of the fact that the restaurant was perhaps 40-50% full. The banana leaf on the plate for the main course was dirty and we had to ask for it to be changed. We asked for Appams to go with our Mutton dish, but those took a while to arrive. In the meanwhile, the mutton had gone cold. Because of the airconditioning, and the fact that the food was open, things went cold pretty quickly. And, then, as part of clearing the clutter on the table, the leftover Chicken Ghee Roast also disappeared. Not that we were going to shed a tear. The service speed picked up slightly, and we were offered curd rice and elaneer payasam. Oh, and though Mr. Shivakumar was present, he had no memory of having offered the cake for the Anniversary celebration. All in all, a very underwhelming experience. Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

The perfect south indian restaurant for an authentic south indian feast. The ambiance, the staffs and especially the food at Southern Spice is absolutely amazing. Below are some snaps, ordered the Panagam and the Maha Virundhu. As for the Maha Virundhu I believe it's more that enough for 1 person , the food keeps on coming, if you're not a heavy eater. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
