The path leading to the restaurant was filled with numerous interesting elements such as swathes of fabric in lovely traditional patterns, replica of a wooden houseboat, statue of a Kathakali dancer, an ornate bicycle, etc. The restaurant had an ethnic and cozy feel with wooden furniture, lanterns, instruments of Indian classical music, etc.
For our meal, we'd ordered bhuna ghost, home style vegetable curry, spicy tangy prawns, rice and appams. The food was splendid. The bhuna ghost was cooked to perfection with the mutton well done in a thick and delicious gravy. The home style vegetable curry (naadan curry) was creamy and subtly flavoured. The fresh, soft appams were made at a live counter which the staff set up right next to our table so we could have them hot off the counter. We ended our meal with filter coffee, which was milky and yet had a robust flavour without being bitter.
The food was served on banana leaves cut to size and placed in each plate, which isn't a common sight. The staff encouraged to use our fingers and eat in the traditional Indian way. They even brought a bowl full of warm water to the table to help us wash our hands just before the meal even though they had given us sanitiser when we'd entered.
The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing or intrusive in any way. Bachan, the restaurant incharge, was constantly around to make sure everything was in place and that we had a good time. Chef Bala graciously came over to our table to answer questions we had about options in the menu, help us with recommendations and understand any requests for customisation. From getting beverages on the table within minutes of being seated to bringing a washing bowl over to the table and always being around to serve helpings, Rahul (the staff member serving us) managed everything so promptly and efficiently that we never had to ask him for anything
Taking plenty of photographs, relishing the food and being pampered by the staff, we truly enjoyed ourselves. The food was fantastic and the staff made our experience even better with their attention to detail as well as their warm behaviour

Started in the year 2000, #southofvindhyas is named to celebrate the famous cuisines of the south, promises and delivers authentic local specialities. Dr Kamath has curated the best breakfast menu in India and more than 100 parrots come in every morning to enjoy the feast. Following India’s tradition to remain seated during the course of your meal they have come up with the concept of a sit-down buffet. Talking about the food we really loved their Tamil Nadu Special Kerai Vada, Palkatti Vattal which are veg starters. For the Non-vegetarians you should check out their Kerala Chilli Chicken and Dry Masala Prawns. Lip Smacking Vegetable Meedly serves its name right. Chef Bala’s Chicken is really good. They are famous for their authentic thalis we tried both veg as well as non-veg thali and they are utterly delicious. They also serve amazing prawns biryani. They have a live appam trolley for tasty appam. Moving on to desserts we tried their Banana Fritters a delight from Kerala, Payasam which is traditional sweetened milk and lastly tender pan frozen bar (kulfi) which is really refreshing. .
