Stumbled on Longuinhos Bar, Restaurant & Confectioners while exploring Margo market and found a charming old world spot that lives up to its reputation as a local favourite. The place is well kept and gives a genuine vintage feel that suits its menu of traditional Goan dishes. The owner, Ivo Almeida Coutinho, personally welcomed me, shared stories about the restaurant and his involvement in Konkani cinema, and even gifted me a copy of his cookbook, A Day in a Goan Kitchen. Service felt personal and unhurried, the food was authentic and satisfying, and the atmosphere is ideal for anyone who enjoys food with a side of history. Great for a leisurely lunch or an evening when you want something real and unpretentious. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic Goan home style food and warm local hospitality. Visit when you have time to sit and savor the meal and the stories. A lovely slice of Goan tradition in the middle of the market. Thank you to Ivo for the hospitality and the cookbook. Will be back. I agree with Udaya. The food was horrible to say the least. We ordered fish fingers and what they gave us was thin strips of fish (strips cut from the stomach area..I could still see the black of this area). These strips they coated with rawa and deep fried. They tasted horrible. The beef chilly we ordered was made from beef that was cooked some days ago. The color of the beef was black. The pork amsol we ordered was bland, no taste at all. The owner sits with the guests and makes small talk with them and tries to sell his recipe book. Maybe he should spend some time in the kitchen to oversee what is being cooked. All in all a horrible experience. A much hyped place. I had fish thali here before and that I must say was good

Visited Longuinhos Margao for lunch on 14 December 2023 at around 1pm with my family of five people (2 Adults, 3 kids). We went to the Air Conditioned room. The food was absolutely fantastic. The quantity of each item was quite good and satisfying. I would recommend the goan sausages, the sausage chilly fry and Kingfish curry with rice.

Food quality - 100 out of 100.
Huge compliments to the Chef.

Now here comes the not so good part. The waiter who served us was not engaging or helpful. We asked which item on the menu was the people’s favorite and which item would he recommend to us. He had no clue. We then discussed amongst ourselves what to order and the waiter appeared very impatient. At one point he just walked away while we were speaking to him and placing our order. He may have thought we were taking too much time to place our order, but hello, when you have kids you need a little bit more time to pick the right non spicy food from the menu and that when we rely on the waiter to assist or guide us through the menu.
(Note- the dining area was not full, hence the whole thing about the waiter being stressed etc goes out the window.

We did not allow the waiter’s poor attitude to bother us and we enjoyed our meal.

In the end, I was thinking of not leaving a single rupee as tip because of the bad service, however I chose to be the bigger person and left him a decent tip.

If my comments are being read by the management at Longuinhos, it would be nice if they could train their waiters on how to treat their customers who bring them revenue.

Customer Service - 1 out of 100.
Rated 1 because at least the food arrived on our table.
