Kunjunni Nair Café in Thrippunithura is one of those places that looks very promising at first glance because of the heavy morning rush, but unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfying. The café is extremely crowded in the mornings, which shows its popularity, but the service is quite poor and unorganized. We had to wait a long time just to get someone’s attention, and when the food finally arrived, it turned out to be very disappointing. We tried Puttu with green peas curry, thattu dosa, and their ghee roast. None of these dishes lived up to expectations. The puttu lacked flavor, the curry was bland, and the dosa was an utter flop — soggy, oily, and nothing like what a good dosa should be. The chutney served alongside was even worse, almost watery with no texture or taste, which made the whole meal feel incomplete. The much-hyped ghee roast did not deliver either, missing the richness and crispiness one usually looks forward to. The only redeeming item was the vada. It was hot, crispy, and fresh, standing out as the only dish worth mentioning. For a place with such a crowd, one would expect better quality and faster service. Sadly, this café seems to rely more on its name and old reputation than actual quality food and service. Overall, it was a very underwhelming experience, and we wouldn’t recommend it for anyone looking for a satisfying breakfast in Thrippunithura, unless you’re just dropping by for a quick vada with tea.
