I visited this place for their lunch buffet. As is expected from a star property, the options available in the buffet were humongous. Coming to the food, the items in the bakery and the continental section were quite exquisite. The live counters were also very good. The dessert section was good but I had higher expectations having heard rave reviews of their expertise in dessert items. What was really shocking was their North Indian and Bengali Cuisine dishes. Those were quite mediocre, something not anticipated from JW. The plates and glasses provided were not very clean, though the staff promptly changed those when requested. Also I noticed a few flies around the tables and the buffet area, even though a person was constantly going around killing the pests with an electric fly swatter. Considering the price point, it was a mixed experience. Some hits, some misses. Price per person: ₹2,000+ Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4
We were staying at the hotel and had breakfast buffet included here. It was very good and we enjoyed the selection quite a bit. The first day we came a little late for breakfast (after 9) and it was very crowded and a little nutty. The following days of our stay we targeted earlier, 7am-ish and it was a much more pleasant experience. We found the wait staff extremely attentive, special shout out to Chauhan and Sous Chef Sasi. Sasi took great care of us explaining the local culture, food as well as making sure we were were very satisfied. Chauhan introduced us to local food and get a better sense of the Bengali palette. I do want to note that certain items that I was looking forward to eating in Kolkata were not offered here (Kati rolls, fried and curry fish, country chicken). Luckily we used Swiggy for that. In terms of protein choice it was primarily legumes, no other meat choices, it felt intentionally vegetarian focused. That said the staff were open and I making things for us a la carte if we liked - so that’s a nice bonus. JW Kitchen was an oasis for us I what was otherwise a very chaotic, smelly and congested city. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: ₹2,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the buffet of this exceptional hotel, and I must say it was a culinary experience to remember! From the moment we arrived, the ambiance and hospitality set the tone for a wonderful evening. The buffet spread was incredibly impressive, offering a wide variety of dishes from different cuisines. A special mention must go to the chaats absolutely a must-try! Fresh, flavorful, and made to perfection with just the right balance of spices and textures. Every bite brought back the joy of authentic street food with a gourmet twist. The dessert selection was equally outstanding. It was a dessert lover’s paradise! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. It’s rare to find a buffet where every item feels thoughtfully prepared, but this place nailed it.
