We had just had the most succulent of Kebabs at Tunday Kababi and someone had told us that Idrish Biryani closes for Lunch at 3. We rushed to the place in a cab and reached there by 2.30 just in time to have a taste of Idrish's appetizing Biryani. It was a wonderful sight for a foodie like myself to watch Biryani being prepared fresh in huge pots and being served hot and fresh on the plate. Don't let the word hotel fool you because it was a small establishment with limited amount of seating. We had to stand in a queue and wait our turn get the Biryani. Never had I ever thought that I would have had to stand in a queue for a plate of Biryani. "Things I do for Food". The aroma from the Biryani was making our mouths salivate, the scorching sun was over our heads and we couldn't wait any longer to get the Biryani. Suddenly a worker at the restaurant said he will get us 2 plates of Biryani in a corner where we can stand and eat.And there they were 2 plates of freshly cooked Mutton Biryani with Korma gravy right in front of us and our faces lightened up as if we had found a treasure. The aroma from the Biryani was too alluring for us to even waste a second, once it was served on the table. We poured the gravy over the biryani and started eating with our hands. The rice were perfectly cooked to the grain, the mutton was soft and falling off the bones and the gravy took the flavors to a whole new level. The Biryani wasn't much spicy, but one could taste the richness of meaty stock in every bite, as expected out of Lucknawi Biryani. It may not have been the best Biryani that I have had in terms of the spices but the fact that it was freshly prepared and the essence of meat itself was very well preserved, made it feel more like an experience than just a simple dish.
This place is always going to be on my list, whenever I would be visiting Lucknow again. This surely has left an unforgettable impression on my taste buds.
