Dindigul Thalapakkatty Biriyani (Inside Dindigul Town) 1. Accessibility and Location: Confusing Approach: Traveling from Chennai to Kerala, we decided to stop in Dindigul to try the famed Thalapakkatty biriyani. Unfortunately, the approach from the NH to the hotel was congested and poorly marked. Google Maps helped, but the route was narrow and stressful. 2. Facilities and Cleanliness: No Parking or Basic Amenities: On arrival, we found no designated parking. There were no proper seating arrangements, and most disappointing, no restroom facilities within the restaurant. Inappropriate Toilet Suggestion: When we requested a toilet, staff directed us to a nearby church and asked us to pay Rs. 5 to use the facilities—a clear sign of the restaurant’s lack of planning and hospitality. 3. Pricing and Transparency: No Menu or Price Display: Shockingly, no menu was provided at any point—either physical or digital. Prices were not displayed anywhere, leaving customers completely unaware of the cost until the bill was presented. This lack of transparency raises serious concerns about intentional overcharging. Unjustifiable Costs: For instance, a simple soda lime with salt was billed at Rs. 100 (inclusive of tax). We ordered six biriyanis and three curries, and the total came to nearly Rs. 5,000—an unreasonably high amount for the service and ambiance provided. 4. Food Quality: Average Taste, Not Worth the Hype: The food was decent but nowhere near the standard expected for the price. The high cost could not be justified by either portion size, taste, or overall dining experience. 5. Overall Experience & Recommendations: Felt Like Planned Exploitation: The absence of a menu and lack of transparency felt like planned cheating. When basic hospitality norms—like displaying prices, offering clean restrooms, and providing menus—are ignored, it reflects a deliberate attempt to take advantage of guests. Feedback for Management: Immediate steps must be taken to improve customer experience: Display a clear menu with prices. Provide basic amenities such as toilets and seating. Ensure staff are trained in hospitality and communication. Advice to Travelers: If you're passing through Dindigul and tempted by the brand name, proceed with caution. Unless improvements are made, this outlet does a disservice to the reputation of Dindigul biriyani. Service: Dine in Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1

I recently visited to the first branch of dindigul thalappakatti biriyani as I experienced the worst moment there, as there was a bad smell inside the shop and outside the shop and they provide biryani with the small cup which we use to play in the teenage times with our childhood friends. You need to buy 4 or 5 cups of biryani to fill your tummy as even price is very cheap they charge you just 400rs were you will be happy to pay it. Please guys avoid this place . Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹1,000–1,200 Recommended dishes: Mutton Biriyani
