Tried the famous chicken stew and bread. However if anyone ever made simple chicken stew at home, they will be disappointed. Taste was not upto the standards. I think they have added corn flour to thickens the stew. Hygiene is the worst case scenario here. But the fish batter fry is good. Will definitely recommend. Chitto Babur Dokan is arguably the most famous eatery at Dacres Lane/James Hickey Sarani. It’s widely popular for its chicken stew and bread which is kind of a staple food for most of the customers. It’s crowded most of the times, but the service is real quick . I tried the chicken stew with bread, Fish Diamond fry and the egg devil. All the items were quite good. The stew lacked a bit flavour in my opinion but the chicken was quite tender. The diamond fry was crispy and the egg devil tasted satisfactory. But if you are someone who is always keen on maintaining hygiene, you might get disappointed a bit. It’s an old street side shop, and let’s just say they have never prioritised cleanliness as it should be. And if you are someone like me who can let these factors go to waste experience an old eatery which carries a strong legacy for many years, then Chitto Babur Dokan is a must visit for you !
