A great place to grab a drink. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. It's a beautiful, aesthetic café, slightly away from the usual line of cafés in Varkala-quiet, unique & well separated. They also host a variety of parties. Worst New Year’s Eve Experience in Varkala Sandy Bay Cafe Review Sandy Bay Cafe, Varkala delivered one of the most poorly managed and disrespectful New Year’s Eve events I’ve ever experienced. We purchased NYE passes for ₹2500 per person, expecting at least basic seating and controlled entry. Instead, there was no seating arrangement at all, even after repeatedly informing the staff. To make matters worse, people without passes were allowed to enter freely, completely defeating the purpose of selling passes. If non-paying guests can walk in, what exactly are customers paying for? We were made to wait for over 2 hours, standing, with zero communication or accountability. The staff was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional, openly speaking in their native language while dealing with us—creating a clear sense of exclusion and visible partiality toward select guests. Additional issues that made this place a disaster:. Severe overcrowding with no crowd control, bordering on unsafe. No event coordination or management presence. No apology, no resolution, no customer sensitivity. Money taken upfront, responsibility abandoned later. This wasn’t just bad service—it was systematic mismanagement and complete disregard for paying customers. Sandy Bay Cafe managed to ruin New Year’s Eve through arrogance, chaos, and zero hospitality ethics. If you’re considering Sandy Bay Cafe in Varkala for New Year’s Eve, events, or even a normal visit, think twice. Your money, time, and dignity deserve better.
