This 140-year-old eatery has been serving up authentic Bengali flavors since 1884, and my recent visit was nothing short of delightful. I tried the Fish Egg Devil and their signature Prawn Batter Fry. The Fish Egg Devil was a unique experience—crispy on the outside with a rich, flavorful filling that showcased the freshness of the ingredients. The Prawn Batter Fry was equally impressive, featuring succulent prawns encased in a perfectly seasoned, golden batter. Both dishes were fried in ghee, adding a depth of flavor that's hard to find elsewhere. The ambiance of Allen Kitchen is modest, reflecting its rich history and focus on food over frills. The staff were courteous and efficient, making the dining experience pleasant. It's evident that the Saha family has maintained the quality and authenticity that has made this place a beloved institution. Worst experience ever I had till date. It was my mistake that I didn’t pay attention to the negative reviews. This Prawn Ghee Cutlet is simply overpriced and overhyped. They serve a small size of prawns totally coated with batter which looks much bigger in size like a Bengali Golaruti at the price of 190/- rs. When I told it to the owner, his response was cold like he don’t bother about their customers feedback.

The Prawn Ghee Roast is fantastic. But please do not try the other items. I tried Mutton Cutlet. i hardly found any mutton in it.
