Restaurant Review: Yumm Keralam - A Slice of Kerala in the City I recently visited Yumm Keralam with a group of colleagues for lunch, having made an advance reservation for six. The restaurant offers a warm, welcoming ambiance that immediately sets the tone for a relaxed dining experience. The interiors are tastefully done, reflecting Kerala’s earthy charm, and the staff ensured prompt service throughout our visit. We sampled a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes - parotta, irachi (available on request), veg meals, Avoli fry, kadala curry, and Malabar biriyani. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the irachi, which stood out for its authentic spice blend and perfectly balanced flavor. The Avoli fry was fresh and well-seasoned, offering a delightful crunch with each bite. However, a few aspects fell short of expectations. The chicken curry was served cold, which dulled the experience. The Malabar biriyani, though aromatic, lacked the depth and richness one would expect from an authentic version. Additionally, appam and mutton curry were unavailable during our visit, as was tea during the lunch hour - a bit of a letdown for those who enjoy ending their meal with a cup. The vegetarian options were also quite limited. On the brighter side, the restaurant scores high on service quality, cleanliness, and parking convenience, making it a comfortable choice for families and groups alike. Verdict: A pleasant dining experience with authentic Kerala flavors in parts, though a few inconsistencies in food availability and temperature management hold it back from being exceptional.
