We decided to go to Tonino Ristorante on a warm summer sunday to try out their Live Sunday Brunch.

Tucked on the side of MG road before the Chattarpur metro station, pull up to Tonino and enter a peppy yet rustic Italian charm of the place, with the pink walls and contrasting turquoise window panes.

Enter the inner dining area and the fragrances from the live buffet counters and the light music in the background lift your mood.

They had a comfortable waiting area with sofa seating and we decided the sit there and start out, since all the other tables were taken.

The Brunch spread included Antipasti, Live salads, pastas and pizza stations, array of deserts and you can order mains of the brunch menu.

Starting with the Antipasti, the bruschetta's with fresh tomato and basil, garlic mushroom and smoked cheese were prefect and bite sized.

The pizza station had a wood fired oven and we tried the Smoked chicken and also the Stracccetti pizza. The pizza's were quite possibly the best I've ever had, with their perfect thin crust and balance of cheese and toppings, light as a cloud yet spot on with flavors.

(Pro tip- Ask them for slices and not a half/full pizza so you can try out the excellent variety)

The very well stocked salad station, got us confused with options. I went in for all greens, artichokes, cherry tomatoes, chicken and bacon bits, olives, mushrooms, broccoli, grilled zucchini, sun dried tomatoes, fresh feta with a balsamic dressing, while my friend opted for all all greens, artichokes, cherry tomatoes, chicken, olives, mushrooms, broccoli, grilled zucchini, watermelon and went with a lemon vinaigrette dressing. They also had a caesar dressing option.

The ingredients were fresh and bang on flavour and set the perfect base for the mains.

(Pro tip- go low on the quantity of ingredients, focus on flavors and ask the chef which dressing will go well with your salads)

Heading to the pasta station, we saw some very interesting variety like gnocchi, tortelloni, ravioli and also a whole wheat pasta.

Seeing the tempting ravioli, we decided to go for it and took the chef's recommendation for the butter garlic sauce.

The sauce though beautiful in itself, I think the dish was quite let down by the ravioli which had something very off about its cheese filling.

(Think this maybe the only dish that was a let down in terms of quality and flavours.)

Come to the mains, our server suggested chicken breast with barbeque sauce or sole fish in lemon butter sauce, (not on the brunch menu but it was nice of them to pitch in).

Me being addicted to the black pepper sauce, asked if the chicken could be served with it, our server gracefully obliged. The dish was presented beautifully almost looked like angel wings. The server added fresh black pepper from a big crusher on our table. The sauce was bang on with flours, just thought the chicken was a little over cooked. Well didn't matter much cause I was way to much into the black pepper sauce!
Drinks - We had the citrus mint cooler and the virgin mojito. The drinks were perfect summer coolers. The citrus mint cooler was surprisingly nice, it was orange based but I think it had a little hint of ginger in the after taste.

Desserts- My friend couldn't wait after seeing the live waffle counter, so we had the beautiful waffles right before our mains!! They tasted like perfection with the chocolate sauce, not sugary totally authentic in their flavours. Later after the mains we went onto the other desserts. The baked cheese cake was the perfect softness you'd want but never get. The chocolate fudge cake and the walnut cake went perfectly with the scoop of vanilla ice cream. The small lemon tarts had a beautiful buttery flavour in their crust.

Outside area is perfect for a stroll or a smoke break when you feel full from all the food.

End your meal with a cappuccino to perfectly balance the sweet deserts while sitting under the shade of the huge mango tree in the outside area.

(No don't break the mangoes from the tree, I couldn't resist the temptation but frankly nobody saw me do it :P )

Overall Tonino's sunday brunch is a good place to unwind from a hectic week with comfort Italian food. The staff and servers well versed with the menu and professional in their approach.
