Mumbai has dozens of restaurants quietly doing exceptional work. The Table is not one of them, it's just loud about being one of them. I walked in having heard the "#1 in Mumbai" claim by Condé Nast, enough times to believe it warranted a visit. I walked out wondering who exactly is writing these lists. The vegetarian food was below average, the only decent item on the menu was the salad! The burger? Genuinely one of the worst I've had in this city. That's not a throwaway line! I mean it seriously. It had the texture, temperature, and flavour profile of something that had given up on itself. For a restaurant with this reputation, that's not a bad day. What you're paying for here is the label. The "best restaurant" tag. The Instagram-worthy address. Mumbai's dining scene is too good for this to be anyone's #1. Save your money, save your evening, and find a place that earns the praise rather than inheriting it.
