Nestled in the heart of Chennai, The Flying Elephant is a fine dining establishment that offers a multi-cuisine experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a touch of elegance that adds to the overall experience. The interior design is modern and chic, with comfortable seating arrangements that make it an ideal place for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends. The price range is on the higher side, but the quality of food and service justifies it.

The Flying Elephant is located within the Park Hyatt hotel and boasts of a beautiful outdoor seating area that overlooks the pool. The establishment also has a well-stocked bar that serves a variety of cocktails, soft drinks, and wines. Some of the must-try dishes include Tandoori Broccoli, Thai Green Curry with Jasmine Rice, and Adana Kababs. For drinks, The Wild One of Mexico cocktail is a crowd favorite, while the Coconut and Carrot Soup is a unique and delicious non-alcoholic option.

While the establishment does have a few flaws, such as slow service and limited spread for the buffet, the overall experience at The Flying Elephant is a memorable one. The attentive staff, beautiful ambiance, and delicious food make it a great place to dine in Chennai.

Our family Christmas brunch is very special to us, and after a disappointing incident last year at another hotel where our fully-paid booking wasn’t recorded, I was extra cautious this year. Based on recommendations, I chose The Flying Elephant at Hyatt and initially connected with the reservations team through WhatsApp. However, despite repeated follow-ups, there was no proper confirmation, and I later discovered that the booking was not recorded at all. This naturally caused a lot of concern and frustration, especially given the emotional importance of this occasion for my family. At that point, I reached another contact number and spoke to Ms. Sejal — and that changed everything. From the very first conversation, she was warm, calm, professional and genuinely solution-oriented. When I asked for a senior-level contact, she introduced herself and assured me that she would personally take responsibility. She patiently heard my story, understood why this booking meant so much, and immediately took charge. She collected my company details, GST information, shared the payment link, and sent a proper confirmation email — everything handled with clarity, courtesy, and efficiency. And it didn’t stop there. On Christmas Day, when we arrived at the hotel, I asked for Sejal — and to my delight, she was right there at the reception. She greeted us with such warmth and sincerity that it truly set the tone for the day. She ensured we were well taken care of, arranged for someone to walk us through the beautiful brunch spread, and made sure we felt comfortable and valued throughout. Because of her attentiveness, we could simply relax, celebrate, and create happy family memories — exactly what Christmas should feel like. I deeply appreciate the professionalism, empathy, and commitment Sejal demonstrated. She truly embodies what excellent hospitality looks like — not just service, but human connection. Thank you, Sejal, for making our Christmas brunch special, meaningful, and stress-free. You turned a worrying experience into a memorable celebration. I hope Hyatt recognizes and appreciates the asset they have in her. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: ₹2,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Went here with my wife for Christmas brunch 2025. We paid ₹8,000 in total (₹4,000 per person). The first issue is the level difference. Guests are seated across three different floors, and it is extremely inconvenient to expect people to keep climbing up and down just to get food. Secondly, the starters were not part of the buffet and were supposed to be served at the table. We informed 4–5 waiters, including managers, that we were waiting for starters so that we could proceed with the main course and the rest of the buffet. Despite repeatedly informing them, we were not served the starters for over 45 minutes. We were seated on the 3rd floor, where a manager was present the entire time. He clearly saw us waiting but did not bother to ask or check on us even once. Instead, he was focused on serving one private table, continuously attending to them. We even asked him for the drink menu, which he never provided, yet he served nearly 20 rounds of food including starters and main courses to that one table alone. There were 3–4 waiters dedicated to that single table, while the rest of the guests on the 3rd floor were completely ignored. We had to keep asking repeatedly for basic service. After 45 minutes, the waiter assigned to us, Pem, finally came to the table. When we complained about not receiving the starters, only then did they realise that they had completely forgotten to serve us. Ironically, the same manager had been actively serving starters and main courses to the private table throughout. The hospitality was zero. I have never experienced such poor service in my life, and I have been to many hotels in Chennai. It is shocking to see this level of service at Flying Elephant—especially a manager who chose to serve just one table the entire time while ignoring everyone else. Pem was at least kind enough to apologise and mentioned that there were many new staff members, which caused confusion. However, the manager on the 3rd floor showed no concern whatsoever. Zero professionalism at Flying Elephant. After this horrible experience, I completely lost my appetite and just wanted to leave. While the buffet spread was good, the lack of proper service completely prevented us from enjoying it. Meal type: Brunch Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

Food was good, and what I was expecting. You can find more Western European style tastes here, a refreshing break from Chennai's spice-laden cuisine. But the atmosphere was absolutely abysmal and not even due to looks which were fine. Music being played far too loudly, and then amped even further up while the staff danced to YMCA and Gangnam Style...while having multiple tables to still serve. Service overall felt inattentive and performant. I came here to eat in a 5-Star environment, not have club music blasted in my ears and be unable to have a conversation... The atmosphere makes the food prices incredibly not worth it. Look elsewhere. Perhaps ITC. Price per person: ₹1,800–2,000 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1
