Good restaurant! We tried the Fish Biryani with Kandhari Beef. The biryani came with a generous piece of Vanjaram fish fry and decent biryani rice. The rice was average, but the fish and beef were really good in both quantity and taste. Worth trying if you love non-veg. I recently visited The Coastal Taste Family Restaurant hoping to get a taste of authentic Kerala cuisine. The place has a simple, family-style setup, nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a relaxed meal. We started with the nandu rasam (crab rasam). It was warm and flavourful, but the crab didn’t come through; it felt like it had been added later rather than cooked into the rasam. The karimeen pollichathu was definitely the standout, fresh fish, well-spiced, and well-cooked. We also tried the jumbo prawn roast and beef ularthiyathu. Both had potential but needed a bit more attention to seasoning. The kappa and fish curry combo was decent, the kappa was nice, but the fish curry tasted more Tamil than Kerala, missing those typical Kerala spice notes. We also tried the non-veg Kerala meals which were quite elaborate (fish curry, fry, chicken curry, a couple of veggies, rasam, moru, rice, papadam, payasam). Generous, but again, the flavours felt more like a mix of Kerala and Tamil styles. To be fair, the menu is quite diverse, it includes Chettinad food, Arabic grills, biryani, shawarma, chaat, Chinese, pizza, and pasta. So if you’re going with a group that has varied preferences, this place works. If you're specifically after traditional Kerala food, set your expectations right. But for a casual meal with lots of options, it's a decent stop. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹400–600 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate your honest feedback on your experience at The Coastal Taste Family Restaurant. We're glad to hear that you found our setup comfortable and had no wait time. It's wonderful that you enjoyed the karimeen pollichathu, and we're happy it was the standout dish of your meal. We also appreciate your constructive comments on the other dishes. We're sorry to hear that the nandu rasam didn't have a strong crab flavor and that the prawn roast and beef ularthiyathu needed more attention to seasoning. Your feedback on the kappa and fish curry tasting more Tamil than Kerala is very important to us, as we strive to deliver authentic flavors. We understand that our diverse menu can be a good option for groups, but we also hear your point about setting expectations for traditional Kerala cuisine. We are taking your feedback to heart and will be reviewing our recipes to ensure we deliver the authentic flavors our guests expect. We hope you'll give us another chance to provide a 5-star experience in the future.
