The Blue Poppy Thakali – Great Food, Poor Ambience (Not Recommended for Muslims) The Blue Poppy Thakali serves tasty food, no doubt about that! However, the ambience is quite disappointing — it feels like they haven’t put any effort into it at all. Despite that, the food quality makes up for it. Be prepared to wait for a seat on weekends, as the place gets quite crowded. Important note for Muslim visitors: They serve pork and cook pork, chicken and other items in the same pan — just by washing it in between. This may not be suitable or acceptable for those who follow dietary restrictions, especially Muslims. Food here is entirely different from Bengali Chinese cuisine. Those who have a taste for food from Sikkim, Nepal and Tibet will love this place. For example, the Chicken Kothay Momo is entirely different. The flavor is different and tastes different following a bite. Stir Fried Bokchoy is a rarity in other restaurants and we love these greens; very lightly fried, retaining the original colors and very low on spices. Chicken Phalay is very Sikkimese; closer to a thicker Bengali Kachuri with a heavy filling of chicken, onions and spices. We also had Chicken Shapta, a Tibetan dry chicken curry a bit heavy on chilli, although excellent in taste. Chicken Fried Rice was fine, not extraordinary though, a bit dry, perhaps. We savour the food here and reminisce our time in Sikkim and Nepal. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹400–600 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
