SCAM ALERT: Avoid Taphaus Sports Bar, Thane – Overpriced, Dishonest & Rude Staff I had one of the most frustrating and dishonest dining experiences at Taphaus Sports Bar in Thane, and I feel compelled to warn others. I booked a table through the Zomato District app, which offered a 15% discount. When we arrived, the place was almost empty—just two tables occupied, including ours. Despite that, the staff showed no interest in serving us. The waiter was dismissive, rude, and completely unbothered. We ordered from their standard menu, expecting a normal dining experience. But when it was time to pay via the Zomato app (as the offer required), the waiter abruptly stopped us and said, “If you’re paying through the app, we’ll have to give you a different bill.” No explanation. No apology. Just blatant dishonesty. He then handed us a crumpled, low-quality paper menu—something you’d expect from a shady roadside stall—with prices nearly double those of the original menu we had ordered from. Classic bait-and-switch. They lured us in with a Zomato offer, let us order from a regular menu, then tried to scam us at the end with an inflated bill tied to a completely different menu. I’ve used Zomato’s dine-in offers at many restaurants before, and never encountered this kind of deception. This was a first—and I sincerely hope it’s the last. To be clear: • They manipulate prices after the fact. • They treat customers with zero respect. • They exploit platforms like Zomato to bait people and rip them off. Zomato, you’re complicit if you continue to host this restaurant on your app. As for the glowing 5-star reviews – either those people got incredibly lucky, or more likely, they’re fake or written by the staff themselves.
