I visited the Taftoon at BKC today with my mom. Since my dad had recommended this place to us, and we were quite looking forward to the experience. Considering it’s a fine-dining restaurant in BKC and known to be a popular spot frequented by celebrities, we expected a certain standard of service and food. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. We were not offered the Kashmiri Kava or the complimentary papad tray that is usually served. We had to request both ourselves, and throughout the meal we found ourselves repeatedly asking for basic things. At one point I asked for some curd, which arrived after about 10 minutes, and it was served in a large bowl that was later added to our bill. By the time we asked for the bill, the Kashmiri Kava we had requested still hadn’t been served. The food itself was also quite underwhelming. We ordered Chole Bhatura as a starter, which was okayish and edible but nothing great. For the main course we ordered Paneer Kofta with rotis. The rotis were nice, but the Paneer Kofta gravy was honestly terrible and tasted quite unpleasant. We even got the gravy packed to take home, and when my dad tried it later he wondered why we had even paid for it because the food was that disappointing. I did share this feedback with the manager before leaving, and to his credit, he received it well and was quite receptive to the feedback.
