It's really a hidden gem in case you want to have home cooked maharashtrian style meals. We make sure that we visit this place every time we are in matheran atleast once and have tried almost everything on their menu. Last time when we visited, we had prawns masala, chicken masala, shev bhaji, pithala bhakari and veg thali. Everything was mouthwateringly delicious. Do give this place a try. Only con is that they have a very small and basic seating space maybe they can do some rearrangements to make the place more presentable. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

On the advice of a local, we were directed to Swad Dhaba, a small, unassuming eatery nestled quietly in a corner of Matheran, devoid of any grandeur or elaborate decorations. While searching for accommodation, we inquired about good food in the area, and Swad Dhaba was recommended to us. Intrigued, my wife and I decided to dine there that evening. After a brief stroll around Matheran, we returned to our room, freshened up, and headed to Swad Dhaba. We ordered two chicken Thalis, prawn fry, and bombil fry. As per our order, they began preparing each dish. The first to arrive was the fried prawns. I delicately split one in half and gave one piece to my wife. Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavor, so memorable that just recalling it makes my mouth water. The food was exquisite, prompting us to abandon conversation momentarily as we savored every morsel. It was a truly satisfying and pocket-friendly meal, a must-try for anyone visiting the area.
