Come for a meal right after seeing Eglise de Notre Dame de la Conception Immaculee Church. Indian and Vegetarian cuisines under the direction of the great chef are wonderful here. Degust perfectly cooked tomato soup, idli and vada at this restaurant. A number of guests note that you can eat good pancakes, ice cream and payasam here. Surguru Restaurant has delicious white coffee, fresh juices or masala chai among its drinks.
The knowledgeable staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place great. Nice service is something that people highlight in their reviews. Prices at this place claim to be democratic. You will certainly appreciate the pretty ambiance and beautiful decor. This spot is ranked 4.1 within the Google grading system.

Have to give one star because there is no zero star option. We read the earlier reviews and seeing what was written we decided to try the food here. Cannot rate the food because we weren't served any. We reached the restaurant, sat and placed our order (thali and curd rice). Guests who arrived after us or around the same time as us were promptly served water — something very basic — while we had to wait and eventually ask for it. The people who placed orders after us were being served and we waited. In-fact, a group of people who came after us were being served and we weren't. The table behind us was being served the meals and I don't know what amount of effort it really takes to move a little ahead and serve the same thing on our table. When we informed the service personnel that we have a bus to catch and if they could be served our food a little quickly (this was after 15-20 mins of wait), that person moved to another part of the hall and started with some random work and did not even bother to respond or get us the food. This was the worst worst thing and we do not know why this was happening. We ultimately chose to leave and did not get time to have lunch elsewhere because these people wasted 20-25 mins and we had to board the bus hungry and tired and we ultimately ended up eating directly at 9 that night.This was one of the worst service experiences we have had. We would not consider visiting this restaurant again.

Surguru Restaurant in Pondicherry is often recommended for pure vegetarian food, and while the taste does live up to some of the hype, the overall experience was quite mixed. The food itself is genuinely tasty, with good quality ingredients and authentic South Indian flavors. However, almost every item has a strong ghee flavour, which may appeal to some people but can feel overwhelming and repetitive if you prefer lighter food. One of the biggest drawbacks is the excessive waiting time. Even after getting a table, the delay in taking orders and serving food is frustrating, especially if you are hungry or visiting with family. This long wait would have been acceptable if the service was polite, but unfortunately, the staff here come across as rude and unwelcoming. Basic courtesy and customer handling seem to be missing, which really affects the dining experience. Another concern is the pricing. The food is priced much higher compared to similar pure vegetarian restaurants in Pondicherry, and the portion sizes do not fully justify the cost. For the price you pay, you expect better service and a smoother experience. Overall, Surguru offers tasty vegetarian food, but high prices, too much waiting time, overpowering ghee flavour, and rude staff make it hard to fully enjoy the visit. Worst customer service i ever seen in this restaurant... don't go to this restaurant if you are feeling hungry.. if you want to spoil your time...go to this restaurant....45 minutes for one lemon juice
