Summer Garden's menu is all about healthy organic and gluten free food and menu is quite intriguing with so many interesting varieties to try and making you believe that healthy food can be yummy too!
We tried the following varieties at Summer Garden: -
1) Wonderful (Hydrating Drink) and SG Special Lemonade: (Fresh Juices)
Served in a keventeers styled bottle; both the drinks were quite contrast in terms of colors and flavors too. Wonderful is a fresh watermelon juice with infusion of basil and lemon which is said to be hydrating drink. SG Special Lemonade had a twist of sabjaa (often found in falooda's) being used here. Both drinks tasted decent; however they were not chilled enough which was our concern. Juices even with an amazing taste if not served cold is a letdown.
2) Glorious Calamari: (Salad's)
Loved the presentation. Looked pretty with deep fried crisp calamari sitting fancy on a bed of mixed green and topped with aioli's. Calamari tasted great and mixed green's served with aioli proved to be great package overall and we loved this particular dish.
3) Rosti Potatoes: (Nibble's)
Unique dish! Totally opposite of what I anticipated it to be! Potatoes were flattened in order to be grilled and that give it a really good crunchy texture. Lemon aioli served along with was a good complement to the dish. Baby spinach with a dressing of orange juice and few pieces of oranges helped to cut down the fatness from potatoes and aioli's. Well thought of dish..
4) Jerk Chicken: (Mains: Meats)
Straight outta Jamaica Babayy! Presentation looked quite good and the brown color and marination on the chicken thighs looked yumm! Chicken thighs were cooked well (not went too overboard and not too under: just perfect!) Maple and mustard potatoes served along were quite good. However needed more freshness to cut down the fatty'ness hence a good portion of mixed greens along could have been beneficial and yummy!
5) Mushroom Cigars: (Nibbles)
Good presentation. Flakiness from crust of cigars was good and light. Mixture was delicate with mushroom's being slow cooked and mashed to perfection! However these cigars maybe needed a much better sauce/mayo to go with it. Sweet honey and mustard sauce served along was too strong and over dominant in my opinion!
6) Baked Red Snapper: (Mains: Seafood)
Red Snapper is a delicious expensive and delicate fish! Handling a fine fillet of meat has to be intricate and SG Chef's did it to perfection. Fish tasted great; it was tender and juicy both. However needed some more sauce to go along because at a point the fish started to taste bland because of less sauces. Rice cress served along was good and again needed more SAUCEEEEE!!
7) Bhunna Mutton: (Sandwiches)
Good caramelized portions of red meat served on a bed of spicy yogurt spreaded pita breads tasted good and looked great in terms of presentation too! Pita bread was light and not too dense.
8) Gooey Chocolate Cake: (Desserts)
Good presentation. Portion might look less to some people compared to price quoted on menu. However this dish is a delight for chocolate lovers because of the melting liquid chocolate awaiting to be oozing out! Chocolate used here tasted more like bournvita/milk chocolate; however my liking for gooey chocolate cakes is more inclined towards dark bitter chocolates. Hence i was disappointed with the chocolate used here; also the cake was a bit dense and needed to be delicate!
9) Sticky Toffee Pudding: (Desserts)
Amazing! Brilliant! Toffee sauce gave me the reminiscences of the childhood days eating those Re.1 toffees or even coffee bites for that matter! Loved this particular idea of using toffee sauce on a pudding which won half the battle however expected pudding to be a bit more on softer side but this one was bit too dense. Improvements needed in Pudding. However i would still recommend to try this dish because it is well thought of dish and unique! :)
Overall my experience at Summer Garden was a bunch of hits and misses (majority hits but a few minor misses which can be rectified!). Would love to hop in back here if around Powai because Summer Garden is a good blend of delicious and healthy food together! Cheers...!
The whole concept of no plastic is all good, but it's useless if your food tastes like plastic.
We went here just because we'd heard so much about it.. But oh my god, that was a big mistake.
The food sucks, the drinks suck, the service sucks..
Never would we go back here again, not even for a free meal..
I'd ordered a cheese omelette, and it was the worst omelette ever..
