If you ever want to experience the perfect storm of disappointment, just walk into Gobindam by Southexpress, the so-called “vegetarian restaurant” on Cuttack Road. First, the music — or should I say musical torture device. They’ve apparently discovered a song called Radhe Radhe and decided the world should suffer it on loop, forever. And then comes the food that taste like undercooked hostel mess food but priced like a five star hotel. The paneer manages the rare feat of being both rubbery and tasteless, while the tandoor roti felt like rubber. The staff are extremely rude and uncouth. In short: overpriced, underwhelming, and endlessly loud. You’d be better off with a roadside chai stall — at least the music there comes from life, not a broken speaker.
