The service of bearded person there felt unusual, weird today while giving parcel.Visited this place yesterday and today morning. Yesterday took Idli Sambhar felt it nice. So went today morning around 8.40am. Asked the person for Pohe - he said Pohe not available- surprised me as it was morning time and it's staple breakfast here. Then I asked ok give me Idli-Udid Wada Sambhar which he gave .While eating I saw their electronic menu ticker list in which it was mentioned Upma, Pohe - 1 kg with prices. I decided would take Upma parcel 1kg, as they dont give 1/2 kg,after buying some Pooja material from nearby Raviwar Peth so that I need not carry along with me as I was on walking mode. I enquired at counter and told would come in a while. After I came around 9.20am I approached the counter lady and asked for 1 kg Upma parcel. She told some added parcel charges that I paid. And went to bearded person who was to pack and give. There was no other customer then so he packed in parcel jar didn't weigh but from jar size I felt no need . Now after that, I told him could he give a plate Upma from it to taste and see . To which he didn't reply when I asked again he said - No ? and he closed the parcel plastic jar and felt now he would parcel chutney as is done normally. But he didn't. So I asked him , but he didn't reply!! and with down head, tongue tied went inside ! I felt it weird I asked the lady at counter who then asks that person ! and she told they charge for chutney ! which he couldn't tell .. Staff behaviour, service was unlikely. The aroma of steaming rice and warm sambar filled the air as I squeezed into the bustling Shripad Idli Centre in Pune. The iconic eatery, tucked away in Kasba Peth, was a whirlwind of activity. On one steel plate sat my breakfast bounty: a cloud-soft pile of uppittu (savory semolina porridge) and a trio of golden sabudana vadas (sago fritters). The uppittu was the star. Each fluffy morsel was bursting with flavor - a harmonious blend of curry leaves, mustard seeds, and chana dal (split chickpeas). The hint of ghee added a touch of richness, perfectly complementing the sambar. The lentil stew, robust and spicy, was the ideal foil for the uppittu's comforting warmth. But the sabudana vadas stole the show for their sheer textural delight. The exterior, a delicate golden crisp, gave way to a soft, springy interior that practically melted in my mouth. Each bite was a delightful explosion of tapioca pearls, flecked with peanuts and flecked with coriander for a burst of freshness. As I savored each bite, the energy of the place was infectious. The friendly staff efficiently navigated the throng of customers, their calls of "Idli sambar!" and "Vada!" a rhythmic soundtrack to the morning. The simple, no-frills setting added to the charm, transporting me back to a time of pure, unadulterated culinary pleasure. Leaving Shripad Idli Centre, my stomach was full and my heart content. It wasn't just a meal; it was an experience - a testament to the power of simple, well-made South Indian fare.
