Bumped into this better-than-I-hoped-for breakfast place which specialises in misal, but also serves good South Indian dishes (though I did not try them, they 'looked' pretty good). The place is *surprisingly* not run by Maharashtrians, like every other misal house in town, but they still serve a lovely package of tastiness in the form of misal thali. Adding a glass of buttermilk and a gulab jamun upgrades it to 'SPECIAL MISAL THALI' and that's what I ordered. There is ample of seating space and also good parking spot for your vehicle. Apart from chass and a sweet, items exclusive for the special thali, the regular thali includes 2 pav, plateful of farsan, papad, condiments for your misal, moong, curd and a small (for the lack of a better word) bucket full of medium spicy, tari-ful misal. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thali, cause it gives me the control on the spice level. Too spicy? Add some more curd. Want a flavourful kick? Pour in some tari. Too much oil bothering your healthy conscience? Add some moong and fool yourself that you are eating healthy. I just love this personalization. But even apart from that, taste-wise too it was delightful and enjoyable. Ended the meal with not-so-sweet-but-relisishly-soft Gulab Jamun. Also, all this goodness for just 100 bucks! So that's really affordable too! Shiv Misal is a pretty decent stop for trying some this Maharashtrian and Puneri speciality, so head in there next weekend and enjoy! Happy Burping!!!
