Shantilal Mithaiwala don't need any intro as it's part of Kochites and their favourite go for shop for sweets and savouries, particularly Gujarathi ones. Their Gol Katchori is the best one available in Kochi or would say, entire Kerala as I have tried Katchori from many places in Kerala. Adding one more dish to my favorite list from this place. It's a Rajasthani sweet Ghewar. O man! What a delicious sweet you guys have made at Shantilal. I am so happy that I am sitting in Kochi, Kerala southern part of India and savoring a Rajasthani sweet dish made particularly during Shravan month and during Raksha Bandhan. Thank you Shantilal Mithaiwala for this It's a family run business and that makes sure that each member takes special interest in maintaining the standard and quality of the food been prepared there. A must go shop if you visit Mattancherry.

Went there on an early Saturday morning, right after they opened shop, since I wanted to get their dhoklas before they ran out (They were over during my previous visit a few hours after Starting time.) Their gujiyas are the best in town (sold by a shop). The ones at Bikash Babu are soaked in chaashni, and sickly sweet. That's not the OG gujiya. The gujiyas at Shantilal S Mithaiwala's are the real thing. Their Staff is respectful and efficient. The elderly person at the Cash Counter was polite and answers customer's queries patiently. All in all a good shop to get a full dose of nostalgia packed up, in case you have spent years in the North of this country, and are craving those kinds of sweets and savories. This is a popular joint with the locals, and must have a pretty interesting history on how it began in the heart of the Gujju area of Mattanchery. I'm glad they set up shop in Kochi. Parking is tight, but manageable. Also depends on when you go. May be difficult during crowded hours.
