Vegetarian cuisine is served at this restaurant. Eating good paneer, vegetable pizza and bhaji pav is what many guests advise. Tasty curry dessert, brownies and ice cream are the best dishes. A lot of visitors order delicious margaritas. Clients don't highly appreciate lemonade at Shakam Restaurant.

Most reviewers point out that the staff is cheerful here. Professional service is something that visitors highlight in their comments. Democratic prices are what you will pay for your meal. At this place, people can enjoy the nice ambiance and lovely decor. 4.2 is what this spot got from the Google rating system.

This morning we five of us visited Shakam for breakfast combo. We were told that combo is not offered now . Further, whatever was ordered took a lot of time to arrive. Probably Dosa maker was not present and hence Rava Dosa was terrible, uncooked. Sambar was old and tasteless. It was a complete disappointment.

Shakam Restaurant. Kothrud. A tale of two reluctant omnivores. Today my son and I had couple of things to do at Kothrud, Pune. The bylane which we find a relatively safe parking has three eateries in a row. Fish o Fish, Maratha Samrat and Shakam. Last one being special on vegetarian fare. Not really a first choice of mine as well as my son's. However we do visit the restaurant. It's an excellent choice for vegetarians. Vegetarian food has its own fun as well as challenge. Poor guys have to bear with the umpteen permutations and combinations of the cottage cheese Paneer, Mushroom, Baby corn, Cauliflower, Potato and Capsicum, onion , tomato and cashew paste. Four major curries. Red: Hot and spicy. Associated with names like Maratha or Kolhapuri Yellow: Medium hot and spicy. White: Sweetish. Green: Depends. Sometimes can get into red zone or stay with yellow. And they call it Hyderabadi. Armed with this veg restaurants do their best to entice your taste buds. Some succeed , some do not. Shakam is Former. They have managed to create good menu with distinct taste and flavours. With extremely reasonable price for a location of Kothrud. And not to mention the creative names. Today we tried Veg Nawabi Masala and Paneer Basket with Roti basket. Complete butter based on the recommendation from captain who was incidently a lady with complete customer centric approach. She didn't try to sell us most expensive dishes or chefs special which are usually high priced with some tweaking in regular method. Food didn't disappoint either.. Veg Navabi Masala was capsicum, mushroom, baby corns , cauliflower in yellow gravy. Little sweet. The vegetables were cooked well. Capsicum still retaining the crunch, mushroom little bit soggy, baby corn rightly done and cauliflower cooked better than anywhere else. Paneer basket was like Paneer Butter Masala with diced paneer , neither tandoored nor fried and red gravy. Not very spicy though. Roti basket was exquisite. Good tandoored, liberally applied butter and nice assortments. Roti, Naan, Paratha, Missi Roti , Jeera like Roti and Garlic Naan. I love plain roti however today we went at the full complement with butter. Missi Roti was revelation. Initially I mistook it as Makai , corn, roti. How ever captain explained me. Thinner but roasted well and butter made all the difference. Crispy roti and I simple fell for it. Did good with Navabi Masala and Paneer basket both. Even a plain mouthful bite was nice. Once all the important work is done , afternoons get drab and drag on. Good food and ambience livens such dreary times. Visit with family it's a good restaurant. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
