Hey LokeshThere is a lot of misinformation around about gst laws. It's not about a 5-star or a small restaurant, the gst laws state that businesses above 75 Lacs of revenue with an AC Dine-in fall in general category and are allowed to charge either 5% or 18% gst. The gst charged by a restaurant doesn't go into our pockets, as everyone is well aware, it goes to the government. And as you can see with our gst number provided to you, we file a full 18%. So there is no gst fraud being committed here as stated above. The difference in filing & charging 5% & 18% gst, is that the restaurant industry gets no rebate in 5% while they do get a rebate in 18% on all the gst we pay to our raw material vendors, machinery and lately, on rent. GST payments make up for a lot of our expenditure since most of our raw material is imported. If we were to stay in the 5% category, our prices would've hiked up by 22% to accommodate for the gst added in recent things, such as rent, which earlier had only TDS and the increased gst on a lot of imported goods. So the only reason we have switched to the 18% category, is so that we do not have to raise the prices drastically and so that we are able to provide that benefit to our customers who will only face a difference of 13% in our prices since they were already paying 5% gst, without facing too much of a loss ourselves. A lot of our customers are also able to show this as their business expense and claim a rebate on the gst paid by them to us which they wouldn't have been able to do had we simply increased the prices and stayed in the 5% category.We implemented these changes in 2024 end after giving it a lot of thought and considering what would be beneficial to all, not just us, since our customers are our priority.
