Mixed Food Dining @ Rang De Basanti Dhaba, Kankurgachi, Kolkata ?
An impromptu meet with a long lost and visiting friend took me to the Kankurgachi based relatively new outlet of Rang De Basanti Dhaba.
It's situated bang at the Kankurgachi crossing at the place which earlier housed a petrol pump. It's on the first floor. Elevator facility is present.
It's a cosy and clean place with courteous staff who don't hover around you even after your dining is over, provided it is not their rush hour.
Meaning to say that, my friend and myself could spend quality time there without any discomfort.
To accompany our conversation, we ordered -
- Pudina Shikanji and Narangi Goli Soda (₹ 75/- each): The former tasted like a diluted jaljeera and the latter tasted like a mix of Gold Spot and Maa za!!
Capped with plastic lids, the bottles totally lacked the goli soda vibe.
We totally regretted ordering these beverages.
- Dahi Kebab Tikki, Tawa Fried (₹ 255/-): Four thick, round and dry tikkis were served with some onion lachcha on the side. They tasted good and filling.
The green chutney from the condiments platter also tasted nice.
The tikkis were so dry, that we had to order additional aerated beverages to enjoy them.
- Veg Fried Rice (₹ 160/-): Infused with scant vegetables, the dish tasted the usual nice.
- Highway Chilli Paneer With Gravy (₹ 280/-): It paired well with our fried rice. However, we would have any day preferred it's semi-dry version. Since only the gravy preparation was available, we had to opt for it.
The dish tasted nice.
- Phirni RDBD (₹ 95/-): Places in a flattened clay bowl and garnished with some almonds, the sweet dish tasted good.
It was evident that their delivery counter was more busy than their dining space.
