I must admit, I got to know about this place after watching a few YouTube videos. And the best part? You can travel there by government ferry — something I absolutely love about Alappuzha. Raja Ikka's tea shop, with hardly a few tables, is an amazing spot with an incredible vibe. It’s set right by the backwaters, and as you eat your breakfast, you can actually watch boats and houseboats pass by. Since I love taking pictures, I stepped into the kitchen with Ikka’s permission and watched them cook those lovely porottas. Though the kitchen was cramped, the staff was courteous and never complained. The beef and porotta combination was divine — and when washed down with their excellent tea, the hangover I was nursing disappeared in a jiffy. Three crispy porottas, beef curry, and a tea cost just ₹120. The boat ride to the place was ₹12. The whole experience? Priceless. P.S. The bucket where you wash your hands is right at the edge of the backwaters. One wrong move and you could tumble straight in — which, if you ask me, is an added advantage. A quick dip too, if you're visiting Raja Ikka’s tea stall! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
