We got to the restaurant a bit late, around 9:30 PM, so there weren't many options left. We asked for some recommendations and ended up trying paneer paratha, regular paratha, boondhi raitha, achar, and lassi. We went in with no expectations, but everything was surprisingly good! An Authentic Slice of North India in the Heart of Kochi! Stumbled upon Punjab House quite by chance, and I’m so glad I did. Tucked away in a quiet bylane of Broadway, this decades-old gem is a haven for anyone craving authentic, home-style North Indian vegetarian food. Owned and run by a warm-hearted Punjabi family, the restaurant has been around since 1969 — a true testament to the love and loyalty of its patrons. During my visit, I had Chapati, Channa Dal, Aloo Fry and Rice — simple, wholesome dishes, yet bursting with flavour. Each bite reminded me of a homemade meal, lovingly prepared and comforting to the core. The Channa Dal was perfectly spiced, the Aloo Fry had just the right crisp and seasoning, and the chapatis were soft and fresh off the tawa. What makes Punjab House stand out is not just the food, but the soul behind it. Mr. Brahamdev, who now runs the place, carries forward his mother Pushpa Krishanlal’s legacy with sincerity and pride. The menu changes daily, just like at home, so there’s always something new to look forward to. Though the restaurant doesn’t serve tandoori or non-veg, the humble, vegetarian fare speaks volumes in terms of taste and nostalgia. And of course, don’t leave without trying their legendary aloo paratha and lassi — both are unforgettable!
