Review for Parakkat Nature Hotel and Resorts Restaurant
Rating: 0 out of 5 stars

I visited this restaurant with my family after reading positive reviews online, but the experience was extremely disappointing.

The restaurant is a non-AC setup, and the ambiance was below average, not at all what you'd expect from a place that claims to be premium. Though it is located near a tea estate, that’s purely the natural beauty of Munnar and not a reflection of the restaurant's own ambiance or facilities.

We ordered Home Made Mutton Soup, and it took one full hour to arrive. Sadly, it turned out to be the worst soup I’ve ever had—completely bland, flavorless, and far from anything “homemade.”

What shocked me most was that they charged 18% GST, claiming the restaurant is part of a “5-star” property. When I enquired, the cashier insisted that it’s a 5-star restaurant. However, I couldn’t find any official confirmation anywhere to support that claim. Based on my experience, it is highly misleading—the service, food quality, and infrastructure were nowhere near 5-star standards.

We have experienced premium hotels and restaurants in Shimla, Manali, The Leela Kovalam, Kodaikanal, and Munnar, and also internationally in Nepal, Thailand, and Dubai. The quality, hospitality, ambiance, and food standards in those places are incomparable to what we experienced here. This place sadly does not come close to meeting even basic expectations.

I would like to comment about 3 categories - food, service and atmosphere. FOOD - Food we had ordered Dragon fish as starters which was worth waiting for. For lunch we had ordered Chicken Steak sizzlers which I would never recommend as the chicken, veggies, rice and fries were served on lettuce which was platted on hot sizzlers. Lettuce was raw and not edible. Veggies were cooked OK. Rice dint have any flavor. Chicken was dry and lacked seasoning. Fries / wedges were okie. For dessert we had ordered brownie sizzlers when it arrived we could feel the burning smell of hot chocolate sauce which I don't believe that's right. The browie and vanilla chocolate is good that's all to compliment. But we could feel the burning bitter taste on every bite. We also had coffee and strawberry smoothie which was just OK. Nothing great to compliment as outside smaller shops serves better fresh milk coffee. I was shocked to hear that we were being served powdered milk and not fresh milk coffee especially being on a hill station and 4 star hotel. I appreciate the honesty. SERVICE - We have been to different restaurants around the world, but taking kerala as an example even the smallest cafes or local street stall would have the best customer service. Every single staff there who was supposed to serve and take care of the guest was laughing, joking around, and was having a great time together. Their customer service makes me wonder how they got through their hotel management degree. We were served food but the staff forgot to. Serve us plates. Definitely they would as they were busy giggling, having fun, chit chatting and very busy in their own world. Moreover they have become lazy to know which tables needed refill on tissues. Definitely our table had no tissue and we were given another box which also had on 2 pieces. I guess they expect the customers let them know if tissues are over. This was one of our worst experience and definitely wouldn't tolerate such unprofessional customer service. I would have to say apart from us there was another guest of 2, but regardless if even it was just us I would expect a professional service not giggling staff. ATMOSPHERE The view is to be enjoyed as they have one of the best plantation views to have breafast, brunch, lunch not sure about dinner views. But to enjoy this u need to have a q quiet surroundings to. If you have staff in one corner laughing, giggling and joking around then this views of no use. Humble recommendation to keep only the necessary staff according to the tables booked for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. More the staff is good if it's to help around but not to laugh loudly, joke around, giggle and talk loudly even if it's only one customer available for lunch which was the same in my case. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹1,000–1,200 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

This restaurant was just one of our pit stops in Munnar before we were headed for a hike. Though we arrived way after lunch hours, we were escorted to our tables and fresh food was cooked. It felt special, as no other restaurant would have gone this far, given that they were all busy with New Years Eve preparations. The nicest gesture came from the owner itself, who saw us off at the elevator and handed us a box of cake while apologizing for not being able to serve us the way they usually do. This is hospitality at its finest, and will recommend this restaurant and hotel to anyone looking to be pampered in Munnar. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
