I recently tried the biryani at this restaurant, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had with this dish. The presentation and preparation fell short of expectations. The eggs had an unpleasant odor, the accompanying potato was simply boiled with the skin left on, and the chicken was excessively dry and over-fried. The rice appeared to have been tossed in a wok with artificial coloring rather than being layered and infused with authentic biryani flavors. Given these issues, I’m genuinely surprised by the restaurant’s high ratings. The dish lacked the aroma, texture, and depth of flavor that define a good biryani. Overall, it was a very unsatisfying experience that I hope the restaurant takes as constructive feedback for improvement. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹600–800

I recently had the Veg Thali at Meridian Restaurant (মেৰিডিয়ান ৰেষ্ট’ৰেণ্ট) near Mithapukhuri in Jorhat, and it was a great experience overall. Priced at just ₹130, the thali came with a satisfying variety of freshly prepared vegetables, dal, rice and a few flavorful pickles that really enhanced the meal. Each dish had a unique taste, not overly spicy or oily, and felt like good home-style cooking. The portion was generous and definitely enough for a complete lunch. The pickles were a highlight — tangy and perfectly balanced. What added to the comfort was the air-conditioned dining area, which made the experience much more relaxing, especially on a hot day. The staff was polite, and service was quick and efficient. The only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that the thali could be even better with the inclusion of a sweet or curd. But at ₹130, it’s absolutely worth the price. Highly recommended if you’re in Jorhat and looking for a budget-friendly, satisfying vegetarian meal in a cool and clean environment!
