Food was really good, especially the Firni. We rarely get a chance to try a Firni like this in the restaurants. Talking about the Biryanis, we tried both (Mutton and Chicken). Both were equally delicious and authentic. Galawti kabab was also tasty and a nice pair with their Parathas. Now coming back to the service, staff are really humble and polite. However, the concern was with the owner. We found her a bit rude with no reason. While the location is not so prominent, not sure about others, we struggled to find as there was no branding/ demarcation outside of the main entrance from the roadside to guide its guests. Therefore, ended up calling the owner was mandatory as that’s the ONLY contact available over google. We felt if you are in a customer service business, you are bound to be humble enough unless your customer is becoming rude to you unnecessarily. This humbleness was clearly missing while talking over phone and disconnecting the call abruptly. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹2,000+ Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

We visited Manzilat's last Saturday for dinner. This was the maiden visit for nine of us who had all received great reviews in some form or the other. Biryani, hospitality and food at Manzilat's is utter disgrace and disappointment to say the least. For folks like me, who have spent the vast majority of his life in Kolkata and then migrated to another city for employment - Kolkata Biryani is more than food. It is a culmination of memories, extravaganza and love put together. Manzilat's has successfully wrecked up that entire feeling. The entire process of prebooking is a farse since prebooked items are not prepared even after sharing the list of items at 12 noon for a 7:30PM slot. Chicken Nawabi Chaap was never prepared and we were suggested to have Chicken Shahi Rezala instead. Shahi Badam Phirni although not communicated to the chef, was anyhow served since there was ample stock. Management does not even have the etiquette to convey the message in person and make their servers take the bullet. Servers who try their best to provide hospitality in spite of an operational backbone that is shoddy and broken. It made me feel guilty as I conversed with the server and gave him a bad day at office. The sheer lack of disregard to time is baffling. We had Mutton galawti kebab and then waited around an hour for main course to be served. The magnum opus at Manzilat's - Kalkatta Shahi Mutton Biryani is neither Kalkatta nor Shahi nor Biryani in any essence. Having loved biryani for a substantial amount of time, having eaten the delicacy across various franchises and finally having cooked the dish at home on multiple occasions - I for one am very sure what Biryani does not taste like. And this was exactly what Kolkata Mutton Biryani should not taste like. One pot rice - yes, Yakhni Pulao - may be, Ghee Bhaat - definitely. But not Biryani. In summary, I urge the management to realize that no amount of Nawabi Music with static noise, elaborately embroidered canopies and dastarkhwan seating arrangements can give biryani lovers an experience that will stay with them. It is particularly easy to fall prey to food vlogs but you must realize that experience and show business cannot be a replacement for great biryani. For biryani lovers considering a visit, don't be fooled by the ratings. Food: 1 Service: 1

Over-hyped awadhi cuisine. We visited last night for dinner. The restaurant is located at roof top and there is no lift, you need to climb all the way up till 3rd floor. There is space crunch due to which you need to prebook. We were a group of 4, once we entered we were offered to sit inside a room with ac as rooftop was already filled. We reached at 8 pm and were waiting till 9 pm for our pre-ordered menu. On asking we were requested if we would like to be served food inside the ac room as rooftop was full which we agreed keeping in mind the heat and smoke filled rooftop as it was adjacent to the kitchen. Manzilat mam does the cooking with 2 helping hands where one was responsible for making paranthas and other for table service. We ordered 2 Beef galawati and 1 mutton galawati kebab, 4 ulte tawa ki paratha, 1 mutton biriyani and 1 mutton yakhni pulao with 2 beef pasinda and 2 firnis. Khus sherbet was served in the beginning as complimentary drink. Water and cold drinks were charged twice the mrp which is not expected from the nawabs. Coming to service which is pathetically slow it took 2 hrs to serve everything and by the time rice items came pasinda was cold and the oil turned to semi solid fat, thanks to ac. Paratha and kebabs were good but not great. Beef was excellent and tender. After tasting kebabs from Tunday kebabi in Lucknow this was no match. It lacked the flavours of green cardamom and bursting melting effect of tunday kebabi. Yakhni pulao was bland though black cardamom, mace and kebab chini was used in generous quantity but it was little overcooked with high dampness and the rice tasted stale. Biriyani was even worst with no flavour after tasting authentic Lucknow biriyani from lala and Dastarkhwan in Lucknow. Firni was ok however it missed the saffron. Also u wont be served anything extra even on request for example a Parantha apart from what is pre booked. I wonder how can someone gauge one's appetite on that particular moment. Do check the bill before paying as for us we were charged 40/- extra for mineral water which we never ordered but when cross checked it was rectified. It was a utter chaos and total mismanagement due to lack of staff. Mam was multitasking as she was cooking, handling orders over phone along with billing. Food is not spicy or oilly which is very much Lucknawi style I would say. Overall ok but will definitely not visit again or would advise anyone to go.
