Went looking for an outlet serving authentic Mallu cuisine and Mahabelly Saket did not disappoint. The place is situated inside Select Avenue Mall on the first floor. The ambience is inviting and is tastefully done. Loved the tiles, possibly Athangudi or its replicas, on the tables and the cane finished back of the chairs. The waiters are locals and did their best to make us comfortable. The music is great and all 'Mallu'. We ordered their hidden gem, the Kizhi (480/-), which came in the traditional plantain leaf and was very tasty. The pork fry (490/-) was too good and the mutton kothu porotta (450/-) was also good. The portions are large and we ended up ordering more than we could eat. We also tried the Gunsberg Ginger Ale & Beer (150/-), which was good. We wanted to try the neyiroast (kerala plantain roast) with honey for dessert, which however was not available. The place wasn't crowded at 1330 on a Sunday afternoon. There's ample parking below the mall. Went there again on a Saturday afternoon, two months later. The rush wasn't much although we landed up around 1400. Wasn't disappointed. We tried the puttu mutton (499/-) which was great. We also tried the Shaapu meen curry (toddy shop fish curry) @ 499/- along with kerala red rice (160/-), which was good and the portions were sufficient for two. The appam (75/- each) and veg korma (360/-) were also very tasty. The appams are a tad expensive but the veg korma portion was filling. We also tried the parippu payasam which was not very sweet and pretty tasty. We enjoyed the meal once again. Go for it, if you love authentic kerala cuisine.
