I have never experienced such appalling service at any restaurant in Delhi as I did today at Hauz Khas Social.My friends and I came in for a simple evening. We ordered 2 platters, 2 cokes, one dessert and one banarsi patiala. Before paying, we explicitly confirmed with a staff member multiple times that we could pay via Swiggy. We followed their instructions and paid. He even took a photo and told us to leave. But when leaving, we were stopped and told we hadn’t paid. Turns out the staff had made us pay to the wrong restaurant on Swiggy. And somehow, that became our problem.Instead of fixing their own incompetence, they forced us to pay again meaning for 3 drinks, we ended up paying a shocking ₹4,500. The manager, Sai, was of absolutely no help, and the other staff had the audacity to claim it was our fault. Their version of an “apology” was essentially blaming us for their inability to recognize their own restaurant on Swiggy.Yes, apparently it is our fault that Hauz Khas Social employs staff who don’t know their own restaurant name. Yes, it is our fault that the manager cannot resolve a simple billing issue. And yes, we are 100% responsible for their incompetence and arrogance.To make matters worse, when we said we’d mention this in our review, they offered us a “pity dessert” as compensation as if that would make up for being scammed into double-paying. We, of course, refused.This place is a scam dressed as a restaurant. We didn’t just pay double for drinks and food we paid to be humiliated, blamed, and gaslighted by staff who clearly have no idea what hospitality means.Save yourself the trouble. There are hundreds of better places in Delhi where you’ll get decent service without being ripped off and disrespected. Hauz Khas Social should be ashamed.
