Had a lovely meal at Machali in Udupi and it truly delivered on authentic coastal flavors. The fish was incredibly fresh and everything we ordered tasted amazing. Portions were just right, satisfying without being too much. The neer dosa was soft and paired beautifully with the curries. We tried the prawn ghee roast which was rich, spicy, and packed with flavor. The silverfish fry was crisp, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious. The kingfish fry was a little on the pricier side, but the taste made up for it, so no regrets there. And the rice with curry really hit the spot, simple, homely, and comforting. Service was great, polite, attentive, and efficient. Overall, the food and service make this place worth coming back to. One suggestion though: the restaurant would really benefit from having an air-conditioned section. With food this good, having a more comfortable, cooler dining environment would enhance the experience even more. It’s honestly the need of the hour for a place of this standard. Definitely recommend Machali for anyone looking to enjoy fresh seafood and authentic coastal dishes in Udupi. Machali Udupi restaurant is a must-visit for anyone in the area looking for top-quality seafood. The spices were perfectly balanced, enhancing the natural flavors of the seafood without overpowering them. The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was impeccable. Machali started in udupi after a long wait with a bang.. I visited ten days back. It was a disaster. I tried prawns curry. Prawns was like rubber . Curry was hot but not up to the mark. Most disappointing was quality of rice they serve. If you eat and pay rs300 and think for what you gave paid 300 it's disaster. Totally they must rise the quality of food. If not it's not worth it.
