A massive disappointment, the Le Jardin left us, a group of four feeling extremely low. All our excitement mellowed down when Tawa Lobster couldn't meet expectations. Given that we went with the waiter's recommendations, it was a letdown. The Murgh Malai Tikka was the solitary saving grace. The main course was just as disappointing, & I must confess to making the same mistake despite my best intentions - taking the waiter's confident advice on what I should be ordering! Le Jardin had a soothing ambiance plus an active and natural atmosphere with body artists and live musicians entertaining you as you eat. Birds chirp and brooks flow - beautiful. Two stars is all that the theatrics can muster though!
First the food we ordered was vegetarian and taste wise average. The ambiance was classy. They bought a special cake for our anniversary which was wonderful. However what impressed me the most was the outdoor atmosphere, natural beauty of the property. It's well maintained and the lush greenery was a treat to just watch . The waterfall and caves all are exquisite. I would recommend this place just to enjoy the gardens, the water features to calm your mind. It relaxes you being in a place like this and it was pretty quite when we went so all the more tranquilizing. Food can be improved.
"Na.. Its like we've always been there and nothing different there."
"Soho St?"
"Heard about it, but also heard nothing great about it. Lets try something a little on the expensive side, Oberoi? Leela? Taj?"
Zomato to the rescue and we found this place "Le Jardin - The Oberoi".
Headed out on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Reached Oberoi at the MG road and we were greeted by the security and gave our car for the vallet parking.
Stepped inside the hotel and we were assisted by one of the oberoi executives towards the 'Le Jardin' restaurant.
The ambience of the restaurant is very decent and quite, we were given an option for the round table or the square table, that's so sweet of you guys.
We could see that the buffet spread was decent enough; we weren't looking at the quantity but the quality.
The starters and the soups were served on the table. We ordered for some mocktails chendol ice (pineapple with coconut milk ), sweet sunrise. The starters consisted of chicken tikka, fish tikka, Margarita, Papdi chat, Mutton kabab, paneer. The chicken was quite tender and just melted in the mouth. We are used to hogging in places like BBQ nation etc, where we cannot wait for the starters to stop; and never used to empty plates on the tables ;-) In Oberoi you need to wait a little for the starters to keep coming at you. I requested one of the chefs that we were waiting for a long time and we weren't getting the starters soon; she apologized and then our plates never went empty. Thanks again.
Lets move on to the main spread. Everything was quite different; cannot compare to the usual buffets that we have. The salads were quite awesome with a picky cheese added to them. Baked salmon, wow that was so brilliant. I tasted almost all the salads. Do not leave any salads untouched, you will love them; they were all different.
A separate live pasta counter (veg); that I do not prefer; was average nothing great about it.
The core was indeed awesome as well; with chicken casserole, dum biryani, fish .
Desserts I loved them; mouth watering. Specially the fruit tart. Would have been good if they would have kept the ice creams in the dessert spread as well; you would have to request them to get one if you want.
Ambience: 7/10 (Average - no theme, though inside of the hotel was quite overwhelming; this rating goes to the restaurant ambience)
Food: 9/10 (one of the best buffets I have had)
Service : 6/10 (A little below average since it was too slow or may be we have got used to for a quick service)
