My rating is 1/10. I visited Lafayette cafe yesterday. It was not upto the mark. It was over hyped. We tried the capybara dessert, it looks attractive but tastewise it is not at all good. We had some baos, it was good but not that great. Then we tried their grilled chicken burger, it was okayish. Writer’s cafe’s burgers are great. We tried their mac n cheese, it was good. We tried their orange juice, it was sub-par. Aesthetics is good. Tastewise is bad.

Have been hearing raves about this place and had to finally give in to the urge. Found ourselves at Lafayette by Mug Cakes, located in the hushed bylanes of Nungambakkam Chennai. At the outset, the ambience - cozy comfort is the word and couldn't wait to see if it lived upto it's hype. While the fare wasn't exactly overwhelming, it didn't leave us jaded either. The broccoli almond soup and Nashville burger were standouts. The Tiramisu, lingering of liquor and coffee, just blew us away. Service was prompt and pleasing. The pricing, ofcourse, can leave a dent on your wallet. The weekends can be a bit swarmed, be prepared for a little wait time.
