Japanese Fried Chicken Ka-Raa-Ge Rs.250/- Kynjai Cloud Kitchen, Motinagar, Shillong Korean, Japanese, Chinese 11.02.24 $$$ After a sleepless week, it was family time. For 10 days I've ignored all family obligations as I was so tied up with work, coming home only to sleep. Today being a Sunday, we decided to go to Kynjai Cloud Kitchen for lunch. I'm so happy that my father joined us as he doesn't like moving out of the house too much. My 11 month old nephew Laroi also came along for the 1st time to see his uncle make food content. And I think he learnt a thing or two. The place is an old Assam Type House with parking for a few cars. It's my second time dining here. The 1st was way back when it had just opened. Inside, the different rooms were designated into separate dining areas. The wooden structure & the fireplace made it feel like home. We sat down & Dajied, the proprietor served us complimentary Sohiong Wine which he himself makes. It was very smooth compared to some of the other local Sohiong wines I've had. He now only needs to get it on the shelves of winestores & restaurants. We ordered a bunch of dishes, but I went for their Ka-Raa-Ge Japanese Fried Chicken which I've heard alot about. Some reviewers even claim that it's the best Fried Chicken on the planet. So are the claims true? The Ka-Raa-Ge fried chicken came in 10 bite size pieces. It had just enough of breading for that perfect crunch. Surprisingly the meat was cooked well inside & yet it retained enough of moisture. My favourite part was that they weren't big pieces like KFCs that sadly are too stringy for me. The chicken was marinated in Sake & perhaps that helped tender it up. It came with a mayo dip & a cabbage salad & a slice of lemon. I squeezed a bit of the lemon on the chicken & took a bite. It was Perfect. There was no overpowering masala. No fancy dips. Just proper crunchy fried chicken with a lemony zing to it. This is up there along with the Fried Chicken from Hasty Tasty Bar in Prayagraj which sets the bar for me. All the other dishes were equally just as good. Kynjai Cloud Kitchen has definitely set the Bar quite high.
