Kerala Quarters has a nice ambience, the staff there are polite and helpful. It’s quite a popular place by the looks of all tables booked, so reservation is a must. The food for me was disappointing. Liked the complimentary welcome drink shot but I have eaten better banana chips from Kerala. The appam and Malabar Parotta was made well but the Idiappams ( string hoppers) were chalky in taste. My friend ate the pomfret cooked in banana leaf and he said it was tasty. The bane of my meal was the chicken; the coriander roast chicken and the chicken curry- even though the spices were just right, it was the chicken- not raw but tasted raw! No amount of camouflaging it with spices could detract that strong raw smell n taste. The server did get me a new serve of the roast chicken but it didn’t help. Also, the entire meal missed something- like no sides ; everything had to be ordered, even the pickles ! Lotus and curry chakana was spicy and tangy, the thatte idli was nice, but the coconut chutney was weird in taste , sambhar was good. Sorry to say, but I’ve eaten better Kerala cuisine at a less fancier place in Mumbai than here. Didn’t take any pics since I didn’t love the food and the presentation and serving was basic.
