Easily one of the best places to eat excellent South Indian food, and in a pleasant setting (though one should be prepared for crowds: Carnatic Café is very popular). We visited this branch on a Saturday afternoon, and though a few tables were empty at 2 PM, they filled up very fast. By the time we left, there were several groups waiting outside. The food has a good mix of the more usual dosa-vada-idli-sambaar sort as well as rather more unusual Karnataka dishes, one-bowl rice meals, and so on. Plus there are various beverages (great filter coffee too) and Carnatic Café’s own brand of homemade ice creams, known as Jaatre. We ordered two shant shanti majjige (lightly spiced buttermilk, very refreshing and good), two rava onion masala dosas, and one manina maga, a thick dosa smeared with a delicious peanut-and-spice paste. All served up within five minutes of ordering, and all uniformly delicious. Second helpings of sambaar and chutneys were readily given, and service was prompt and efficient. Highly recommended. We went for family dinner. There was some waiting time for us as we were 6 people. Table for two is easily available. We ordered Set dosa, Rava idli, Masala dosa, Medu vada and Rasam papad. The food was good in taste. All the items have a slight sweetness in taste as probably they add jaggery in all food items. So if you are not a fan of sweet taste in main course, it will be disappointing. The service is fast and the place is always occupied. We were done with our food within half an hour. It is a nice place, got a cozy cafe vibe. You can clearly see their kitchen and the orders they are preparing continuously. If you like to experiment with south indian cuisine from different regions, it is a must visit place. The special dosas (Maleshwaram and Bombat ) are so good but really heavy, but then the server had told us this before but we wanted to try something different. The Paddu was also nice but deep fried and thus heavy too. I thought Coconut jaggery ice cream is over rated though the Filter coffee is to die for. Service is good and fast. Was almost full on a Friday evening. Was done dining in just 45 min which is great. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
