Always a treat! Their fish finger, dim sum deviled eggs, and fish chops from Kalika are top-notch. A must-try! The service is prompt, and the ambiance is great. Perfect spot for a seafood craving! Situated near College Square, just off College Street towards Surya Sen Street, this modest shop started its journey on Kali Puja day in 1965, which is how it got its name. Even after more than half a century, Kalika’s reputation remains as strong as ever. Founded by Sukumar Dutta, the shop initially served a few classic items like alu chop, beguni, phuluri, and mocha chop. Over the years, the menu has expanded impressively, featuring prawn chop, fish roll, egg devil, vetki chop, mango chop, mutton cutlet, and many more—many of them still available at remarkably affordable prices. Today, the shop is run by Bablu Dutta, who continues to follow his father’s philosophy of offering quality food with minimal profit. One of Kalika’s standout practices is its strict use of fresh oil every day, never reusing old oil, which ensures both taste and hygiene. Known for generous portions and honest flavours, Kalika remains a beloved stop for students, locals, and food lovers exploring College Street.
