The Restaurant: A charming venue for a quiet meal, whether for business or leisure, Jayamahal Palace offers a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is diverse, and the staff is courteous, although there is room for improvement in attentiveness and professionalism. Additionally, cleanliness, particularly with the glassware and utensils, could be enhanced. The Rooms: Heritage Rooms: Priced at INR 8,500 per night, the Heritage rooms fall short of expectations. While spacious, the rooms are in dire need of renovation. Room No. 105 on the first floor, in particular, is disappointingly small and does not meet the standard of a "Heritage" room, despite the heritage property designation. The lack of upkeep in housekeeping, including uncleaned corridors and balconies, is concerning for a hotel of this caliber. Repeated guest complaints in the feedback register suggest the hotel is not acting on customer feedback, which is disheartening. Standard Rooms: In contrast, the standard rooms (priced between INR 4,500–5,500) offer a more satisfactory experience. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained, with most featuring bathtubs and functional air-conditioning. However, some rooms would benefit from quick checks and repairs to the air-conditioning units. The geysers, which take 10-15 minutes to heat water, could also be more conveniently managed. The Hotel as a Wedding Venue: While the venue’s aesthetics, lighting, and heritage charm are commendable, the overall experience as a wedding venue is undermined by poor housekeeping. Despite multiple reminders, the lawns, fountain, and even the restrooms were neglected during our events. Service from the housekeeping team remains slow and inconsistent, and although Ankur, the manager, is polite and responsive, the promised service often falls short. Given the property's beautiful surroundings, it’s a missed opportunity not to elevate the service to match the venue’s potential. Decorators: The limited vendor options (only two) for events are a significant concern. We chose Darshan, as he was recommended by a cousin, but the experience fell short of expectations. Despite multiple confirmations, the promised decor was not delivered. The lack of accountability from Darshan’s manager, Chetan, including dishonesty about the issues, was frustrating and left us feeling disrespected. Several lapses in the decorations could not be addressed during the event, despite repeated reminders. Afterward, we were simply told to reduce an amount we felt would compensate for the shortcomings, which further soured the experience. "If you plan an event here, I recommend trying the other vendor and sharing your experience." The main gates: The gate access policy is inconvenient, as only one gate remains open. This created confusion for our guests, especially those arriving by paid cabs. The hotel may want to reconsider this approach for a smoother experience. The Reception Staff: The day reception staff, especially Ms. Preethi and her colleague, are excellent—courteous and patient, even during busy times. However, the night receptionist shows disinterest and struggles to resolve guest requests. Reassigning this individual could greatly improve the guest experience. One recommendation: Providing golf buggies to transport senior citizens between rooms and event venues would show thoughtfulness and significantly enhance guest satisfaction. Overall: While Jayamahal Palace offers a prime location, rich heritage charm, and a serene ambiance, I would advise caution when booking rooms or selecting it as a wedding venue. The property has immense potential, but it needs attention to detail in service and cleanliness to meet the expectations of its guests. I recommend it for its location, ambiance, and the polite manager, Ankur, as well as the courteous day reception staff. However, there is much room for improvement, especially in guest experience and service delivery. Service: 1
