Jaina Restaurant, located near the iconic Ghanta Ghar in Dehradun, has long held a reputation for its timeless classics – especially their pakode and samose. These snacks have been a staple for years and continue to draw loyal customers. On my recent visit, I decided to explore beyond the snacks and try their North Indian menu, which is served in their AC seating area on the first floor. The ambience was simple but comfortable – a good spot to unwind and enjoy a hearty meal. The menu offers a wide variety of North Indian and Chinese options, giving plenty of choice for both traditional and Indo-Chinese lovers. I ordered Mix Veg with Tandoori Butter Roti – the portion size was generous and more than enough for one person’s dinner. The flavors were homely and satisfying, well-balanced for the price point. A special mention to the service staff, especially the boy attending our table – his cheerful attitude and helpful nature added a warm touch to the overall experience. Overall, Jaina Restaurant is a great choice if you’re looking for a value-for-money meal in central Dehradun. It is one of the oldest place near doon hospital the samosa and bread pakoda are a must try from here. Gud place for breakfast although doesn't have much seating arrangements but the food is worth it Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

I first tried Jaina Vegetarian’s samosas back in 2004, shortly after moving to Dehradun. They stood out because they were the first to add a piece of paneer in their samosas, making them unique at the time. The samosas were also larger than the usual ones available, and the taste was consistently great. The best part? You always get hot samosas here, which adds to the experience. Even today, you can relive that nostalgic vibe with their samosas, as the quality has remained unchanged. However, the place itself is quite basic with no frills, and parking can be an issue if you’re traveling by car.
